The units, low-flow cars, are to be manufactured at Vossloh plant in Albuixech, Valencia, with electrical equipment supplied by the factory the company has in the city of Düsseldorf, Germany.
The contract was awarded by Verkehrsbetriebe Karlsruhe and Albtal-Verkehrs-Gesellschaft and involves the supply of 25 ‘Citylink NET 2012’ tram-train vehicles designed in Valencia and equipped with Vossloh Kiepe traction systems.
The vehicles, which will have a capacity of 224 passengers, are scheduled to be delivered from October 2013. They will be similar to the ones developed by Vossloh for Serveis Ferroviaris de Mallorca (Spain), the Spanish operator Feve and the German city of Rostock.
The new Vossloh tram-trains comprise three articulated cars and have a length of 37.2 metres and a width of 2.65 metres. They are to reach a top speed of 80 km/h. The bogies are equipped with pneumatic secondary suspension, which provides good dynamic characteristics and a high level of ride comfort.
