










MAFEX, The Railway Association from Spain, following its 2010 Sectorial Planning, organised a Trade Delegation to Turkey last week, between 8th and 12th February.
MAFEX leaded a 11 - member group of spanish railway companies specialised
in Track Material, Rolling Stock and Engineering that, together with MAFEX and supported by ICEX (Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade) and the Spanish Commercial Office in Ankara.
During the journey, the Trade Delegation arranged different meetings with Public Institutions such as ISTANBUL METRO and ISTANBUL MUNICIPALITY, as well as other big companies as ALARKO GROUP, the biggest construction Turkish company.
Due to the great importance of this event, MAFEX organised a Technical Journey in Ankara on February 11th, in which ADIF and RENFE, as the most representative Spanish Public Institutions, collaborated through a speech about the Spanish Railway Model and its Evolution, focusing on High Speed as the key for the Spanish success. All members of this Trade Delegation also had the opportunity to introduce their companies and products during
the Technical Journey. During this day, as an exceptional guest, the event counted with the collaboration of Mr. Isa Apaydin, Deputy General Director of TCDD (Turkish State Railways), who made an exposition regarding the railway system in Turkey and different plans for investment and development in terms of infrastructure and rolling stock.
During this seminar was attended by most relevant Turkish companies from the railway sector, from rolling stock manufacturers to engineering and technology companies.
